What Is
a "Paid to Read" Website?
You have probably seen
at least one such website on your travels around the net.
They are also known as "Paid to Click"
(PTC), "Get Paid To" (GPT) or "incentive" sites, in which members
opt-in to an e-mail list, and receive several
paid e-mails each day in their inboxes.
All members have to do is
click on a link, and an advertiser's web site appears on
screen for a pre-determined time (typically 15
seconds). They then receive credit (say 0.02
cents) once the timed period
has elapsed.
Why Run One?
PTR websites are very
popular at the moment; with the Credit Crunch
putting the squeeze on everybody's wallets (and
purses!) more and more folk are searching for
ways to earn some extra money.
By setting up and running your own site, not
only will you earn money for yourself, but you
will also be helping others by giving them some
extra cash to spend, and that's got to be a good
thing!
For reasons of clarity,
we will refer to this type of website as a
"PTR site" from now on. You can get some
idea of what we are talking about by
taking a look at my own PTR, www.archerfish.co.uk, which
caters for a UK and Ireland membership.
There are plenty of
sites around that will tell you how to make money
by being a member of a PTR. However, there is very
little information out there to help you set one
up, hence the need for a reference such as
this.
On the following pages,
you will learn from my experiences of
setting up Archerfish (both good
and bad), and I will guide
you through all the steps necessary
to create, run and maintain your own PTR
website, using the popular
Cash Crusader, an inexpensive but feature-rich
software suite, available online for less than
$100.
How to Use This
Website
You should
read this information in conjunction with the Cash
Crusader operating instructions, which we have
not duplicated here, and use it as a reference
to help you get the most from the
software.
I recommend that you print the pages out in
order, and keep them handy when you are working
on your own site, so that you can refer to a
particular section without the need to alternate
between windows on your screen.
I have been as honest as
I can about the usefulness of each section of
the software, to allow you to make informed
choices - you must of course make your own
decisions in the end, as your own invention,
artistic flair and business acumen will play a big part in the
success of your own project.
So, it's time to brew yourself a cup of coffee,
settle down in a comfortable chair, and allow me
guide you through all the steps required to set
up a profitable PTR site of your own.
Believe me, if I can do it, anybody can!
