The place from which you
control all of your site's functions is known as
Admin (administration area). The welcome e-mail you
receive will contain two vital elements that you
will need to gain access to Admin – the license key and the serial number.
It is important that you keep these numbers in a
secure place (a hard copy is a good idea), as
you may need either one of them if there is a
problem with the site at any time.
Admin Password
As there could be serious consequences if
the password were to get into the wrong hands,
you should choose one that contains both
letters and numbers, and it should be at least 8
characters long.
Far too many website
owners tempt fate, by choosing a family member’s date of birth, or
their star sign with a single digit attached to
the end of it. It is better to choose an
unmemorable combination of letters and numbers
and keep it written down in a safe place, than
to go for something memorable like "cooldude10",
or "sexygirl66" and inviting catastrophe!
As the password is at
least as important as your credit card PIN
number, it is a good idea to change it on a
regular basis, say once a month, as an extra
safeguard. This is easily done in Admin, under
the "Site Settings" part of the menu.
Just enter the new password, confirm it by
typing it in again in the next text box, and
click "Submit Query". Be sure to write
it down, because if you forget it you will need
to follow the instructions in "Troubleshooting"
to reset it.
